Hartman Rocks Guided Hike

Oct 17, 2026
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Get ready to rock! Lace up your hiking boots and explore the wild, rugged beauty of Hartman Rocks on Saturday, October 17, with the San Juan Mountains Association.

This fun, fact-filled guided hike takes you through one of Gunnison’s most spectacular landscapes, where towering granite formations, winding trails, and sweeping mountain views create an outdoor playground unlike any other.

Along the way, you’ll discover fascinating stories about the area’s geology, natural history, and unique high-desert ecosystem. Whether you’re a longtime local or exploring Hartman Rocks for the first time, there’s plenty to discover around every bend.

Bring your curiosity, your camera, and even your four-legged hiking buddy (leashes required). Meet at Bambi’s Trailhead parking area on Gold Basin Road for a morning of fresh mountain air, incredible scenery, and a little outdoor education disguised as adventure. Register at sjma.org/events.

SJMA’s Visitor Information Coordinator from the Gunnison BLM Field Office, Melanie Hardin, is leading.
