Riders of the Sage Bicycle Tour

Join HCCA and Goodday Bikeworks on this gravel bike tour of the Ohio Creek Valley! Along the way, we’ll visit and learn about HCCA’s wet meadow restoration sites, vital to the Gunnison Sage-Grouse.

Meet at Murph’s Camp 4 at 8:30 AM to fuel up for the ride. We’ll briefly ride up Ohio Creek Road before hitting the gravel and touring a 1500 vertical feet uphill on a low-grade gravel road. At each site, guest speakers will discuss the specific wet meadow restoration project and the benefits that this type of ecosystem restoration brings to water, wildlife, communities, and the landscape.

The ride is just over 20 miles and is suitable for lower-intermediate riders and up. Because this tour is on gravel, skinny-tire road bikes will not be suitable, and travel will be really not fun.

E-bikes are welcome, as are gravel bikes and mountain bikes. Bring the gear you would bring on any bike ride. Be prepared for weather. Have plenty of snacks. A sag wagon will have extra water and emergency equipment.

Get ready for a great day both riding your bike and learning about our Stewardship Program’s wet meadow restoration projects on the inaugural Riders of the Sage!
