Our poor feet are constantly being squished and confined in our shoes, especially in winter!
The foot has 33 joints in it! The only reason to have a joint is to be able to move. And guess what?, You can’t move without strong muscles. Therefore, when we restrict the movement of our feet, we not only lose pliability, but also strength.
In fact, the strength of our big toe has shown to be a predictor in your chance of falling later in life. This is a BIG DEAL! Falling later in life is a risk for major injury, like breaking a hip, which increases your greater risk of mortality.
And of course, the feet are our foundation. If we have sub-optimal mobility and strength of our feet, anything above may
be impacted.
