Live Music: FiGS

This group moves freely along a cascade of grooves without ever letting up on the audience. Keeping on with the spirit of the jazzers and jammers before them, improvisation is their true north. Not once is a show the same. And not once will you leave a show the same as you entered.

Two shows tonite at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

Formed in Crested Butte, CO in the fall of 2023, FiGS melds the heavily New Orleans influenced cadence of drummer Ian Scott, also owner of the renowned restaurant Slogar (where the band hones its craft in the o hours), with the encyclopedic thunder of bassist, and longtime Crested Butte local, Alex Fenlon. Berkeley School of Music graduate and phenom keyboardist Michael Schmidt graces the band with kindred jazz sensibilities and nack for soulful licks. Fronting the group, guitarist and vocalist Gene James McAward is heavily rooted in the blues and funk music.
