The iconic Wooden Nickel, one of the few remaining historic, ski-town bars, is known for serving the finest steaks in town.

The Nickel specializes in USDA Prime graded, tender Filet Mignon, N.Y. Strip, Rib Eyes and our famous, succulent Prime Rib. Our menu additionally features Elk Tenderloin, Rack of Elk, Alaskan King Crab, Pork Chops, Rack of Lamb, fresh grilled seafood and fresh garden salads. The largest and best Burgers, Buffalo Burgers and Chicken Fried Steak add to your menu choices. Giant Lobster Tails and a variety of Surf and Turf specials are available nightly.

Had a perfect night at the Wooden Nickel. Great wine & bourbon selection. The prime rib & elk tenderloin we’re fabulous!! Our server, Joe, is remarkable – request him for a wonderful experience!

This was a meal I will remember for years! Ordered a 16 oz prime rib, med. rare – unbelievably thick, tender, perfectly cooked and almost no waste to cut off! Best prime rib I’ve ever seen or tasted! In fact, the whole meal was stellar – from the fluffiest baked potato ever to the tender decadent chocolate cake!
A bit pricey, but worth it for my 60th birthday!

Great steakhouse with prime beef, seafood. Great bar/wine list (without a lot of mark up). Friendly service. Reasonable prices for a first class meal.

Went to the Wooden Nickle for a anniversary dinner. We started with the chilled smoked trout appetizer, it was amazing and unlike anything else we have had. Moved on to the Surf and Turf with Filet, Lobster and Crab. It was amazing. However, the hidden gem was our amazing waitress Heather. She was attentive, kind, and so friendly. Definitely recommend this place.

The elk steak was delicious. Service was good. Be aware that, at least in our case, everything was slightly undercooked from what we expected (rare vs. medium rare). That included prime rib, elk steak and lobster. Would still definitely recommend though.

A buddy and I stopped in tonight for some steak dinners. We had been craving steak and found the prices here to be more reasonable than the restaurant next door so we gave it a try. We got the 12oz ribeye steak dinners with baked potatoes. The food came out in a timely fashion and with excellent service from the staff, Nikki was our waitress and she was very polite and helpful with describing our options. The steaks were done just right, I had a medium and my buddy a medium rare. The marbling of these steaks was excellent, they were full of flavor, best ribeye I’ve had at a restaurant in quite awhile! I’ll be back if I’m in the area again!

One of the best prime ribs I’ve ever had. Super tender and juicy and cooked exactly as I wanted it. REALLY good. Service was also top notch and it has a chill, relaxed atmosphere. The feel has a good blend of rustic bar and good restaurant. I sat at the bar by myself and was totally comfortable. I will go back next time I’m in Crested Butte.

A favorite of mine when visiting Crested Butte. First time I’ve been to Crested Butte in the fall. Always love to go visit. My first trip was 1986 and it still remains a quaint little community.
