John Craigie 2024 Winter Tour with Special Guest Daniel Rodriguez

John Cragie

Portland, OR-based singer, songwriter, and producer John Craigie adapts moments of solitude into stories perfectly suited for old Americana fiction anthologies. Instead of leaving them on dog-eared pages, he projects them widescreen in flashes of simmering soul and folk eloquence.

Craigie sells out shows consistently coast-to-coast and earns acclaim from Rolling Stone, Glide Magazine, No Depression, and many more.

Craigie has reached a series of watershed moments. Beyond headlining venues such as The Fillmore and gracing the stage of Red Rocks Amphitheater, his 2020 offering Asterisk The Universe earned unanimous tastemaker applause. Rolling Stone noted, “tracks like ‘Don’t Deny’ and ‘Climb Up’ bridge a Sixties and Seventies songwriter vibe with the laid-back cool of Jack Johnson, an early supporter of Craigie,” while Glide Magazine hailed it as “one of his best records.”

Perhaps, No Depression put it best, “For many weary and heavy- listeners hearted, the album might be exactly what they need.” Along the way, he generated over 40 million total streams and counting, speaking to his unassuming impact.

Daniel Rodriguez

A singer/songwriter with an alternative bent to his reflective, earthy songs, Daniel Rodriguez was known as guitarist for multifaceted folk outfit Elephant Revival before stepping out on his own. After five full-length releases with his band, Rodriguez made his full-length solo debut with Sojurn of a Burning Sun in 2020.

A Connecticut native based in Colorado, Rodriguez co-founded Elephant Revival in Nederland, Colorado in 2006. He was one of five multi-instrumentalists who came together to create a breed of folk-based music that fearlessly took cues from such unlikely influences as jazz, traditional Celtic music, reggae, indie rock, and even hip-hop rhythms. With Rodriguez on guitar, the other original members included vocalist/auxiliary instrumentalist Bonnie Paine, bassist/vocalist Dango Rose, guitarist/electric banjo player Sage Cook, and violinist/vocalist Bridget Law. All members contributed to the group’s eclectic songwriting process as well as the vocal arrangements. The band played sporadically for a few years before issuing their self-titled debut album in 2008, following it with Break in the Clouds in 2010. The entirely analog-recorded EP It’s Alive arrived in 2012. A year later, third full-length These Changing Skies appeared, followed by Sands of Now in 2015. Charlie Rose officially took over for Cook on banjo before the quintet worked with producer Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Langhorne Slim) on their fifth album, 2016’s Petals. Elephant Revival went on an indefinite hiatus in 2018, playing their final show that May.

Rodriguez soon shifted focus to solo material, enlisting post-Petals Elephant Revival percussionist Darren Garvey to produce his self-released debut EP. Titled Your Heart, the Stars, the Milky Way, it saw release in early 2019. In the meantime, he toured in support of acts including Josh Ritter and Mandolin Orange. Recorded again with Garvey, Rodriguez’s first album, Sojurn of a Burning Sun, followed on BMG in August 2020.
