Gunnison Nordic’s Annual Cottonwood Classic

The 5th Annual Cottonwood Classic, hosted by the Gunnison Nordic Club, is set for Thursday, May 22, 2025, offering cyclists a unique opportunity to ride the west side of Cottonwood Pass without vehicular traffic.

This non-competitive, scenic ride serves as a fundraiser for the Gunnison Nordic Club, supporting their efforts in grooming cross-country ski trails in the Gunnison area.

Event Details
Date & Time: Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Route: An 11.5-mile ascent from the winter gate to the 12,138-foot summit of Cottonwood Pass, with a total elevation gain of 2,656 feet. The descent offers a thrilling return to the starting point.

Registration: Limited to 200 participants. Early registration is encouraged as the event is expected to sell out.

Entry Fee: $50 for early registration.

Perks: Participants receive a pair of Cottonwood Classic Defeet socks and other swag.

Post-Ride Gathering: Riders are invited to the Three Rivers Resort after the ride. Wearing your event socks earns you a discount on your lunch bill.
