Encanto is a 2021 animated musical fantasy film from Walt Disney Animation Studios that tells the story of the multigenerational Madrigal family living hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a magical house called the Encanto. Each family member is gifted with a unique magical ability—such as super strength, plant growth, or weather manipulation—except for Mirabel, who feels like an outsider. When the magic that sustains their home and powers begins to fade, Mirabel embarks on a quest to uncover the cause and restore the enchantment. Along the way, she learns that the real magic lies in vulnerability, healing intergenerational trauma, and embracing imperfection within the family. The film has been praised for its heartfelt story, vibrant animation, cultural fidelity, and memorable music composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
