Crested Butte Film Fest: Downwind
Talk about forty years in the desert. From 1951 to 1992, the United States government dropped 928 nuclear weapons on the Nevada desert.
Hiroshima. Nagasaki. Mercury, Nevada? The latter was the site for the testing of 928 large-scale nuclear weapons. Executive produced by Matthew Modine and narrated by Martin Sheen, DOWNWIND is a harrowing exposé of the United States’ disregard for every person, even John Wayne, living downwind.
In his role in film marketing for the animation studio LAIKA from 2007-2019, Mark (right) worked on the publicity campaigns for five Oscar-nominated feature films: Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings and Missing Link. Before LAIKA, he managed community affairs communications for Nike and also worked for Monster.com’s Diversity Leadership Program. He has served as a Mentor in Publicity and Marketing for SxSW Film. Mark sits on the Klamath Film Board of Directors (Oregon) and curates animated film programming at festivals around the world. A native of Seattle, Mark attended Emerson College and received his BA (English) from Colorado College. He completed education studies at Lewis & Clark College. He is a partner and co-founder of Metolius Marketing, LLC where his client list includes Baobab Studios.
