CB Wildflower Festival Hike: Baxter Gulch

Level: ■◆ Intermediate-Advanced

Length: 3 miles with steep, rocky, and uneven terrain.

This new classic trail took 8 years of construction and is a new gem in the mix of trails close to the Town of Crested Butte.

You’ll ascend through aspen forest then traverse across southern slopes filled with mules ear, aspen sunflower, and lupine.

A decent to the creek marks the turn-around point, or if time permits, ascend the wooded slopes on the other side and search for the elusive fairy slipper.
