Astronomy Talk at the Observatory: Extraordinary Exoplanets
Enjoy a family-friendly astronomy talk by one of our knowledgeable volunteers followed by viewing through a variety of small outside telescopes (weather permitting). Note: a separate Dome Tour ticket is required for viewing through our 30” telescope.
Title: Extraordinary Exoplanets
Description: Everything we know is about to change. In the past two decades astronomers have discovered thousands of planets orbiting other stars in our galaxy. We have found some truly extraordinary exoplanets ranging from Jupiter-like planets roasting close to their suns to Earth-like planets orbiting tiny stars. Now missions like TESS and the James Webb Space Telescope are poised to revolutionize our understanding of these exotic worlds. Join local astronomer Dr. Suzanne Taylor to learn about the science of exoplanets, from current research at GVO, to Webb’s extraordinary mission.
Program begins at 9:00 PM. The astronomy talk will last approximately 30 minutes.
