It’s a week of high country fun and an old fashioned Independence Day Celebration all over the Gunnison Valley. The week include a host of holiday events including Crested Butte’s historic 4th of July Parade.
It’s infamous, maybe even notorious as Elk Avenue closes down on July 4th for the wildest, rowdiest 4th of July Celebration in the Rockies. What starts as a traditional Independence Day Parade with an eclectic CB twist, ends in a once experienced, never-forgotten water fight free for all as the CB Fire Dept. rides in.
But the fun starts well before the parade and the celebration continues long after. It’s a week filled with community spirit, fun, and patriotic celebration, making it a memorable experience for both locals and visitors.
Blitzen Trapper
Kick off Fourth of July holidays with a show at the Center for the Arts in Crested Butte featuring critically acclaimed tunes of Blitzen Trapper, modern indie folk revival band.

Mt. Crested Buttes 4th Of July Celebration and Fireworks
The town of Mt. Crested Butte will have live music and fireworks at the Crested Butte Mountain Resort base area. Live music from local artist Rachel VanSlyke and headliners Twenty Hands High and Devon Worley Band. Enjoy children’s activities all day and a BBQ dinner later. Catch it at the Red Lady Stage. Gates open at 3:30 P.M. with festivities from 4 pm to 10 pm. An Independence Holiday fireworks show finishes the evening at dark.
