Music in the Garden: Jim Sargent

The museum is excited to bring back live music in the garden on Thursdays in August from 5pm to 7pm. Libations & snacks will be available for purchase. This is a free live music series brought to you by generous sponsors, Bill Peatross & the Gunnison Valley Music Association.

My name is Jim Sargent. I have a blessed life and feel incredibly fortunate for everything in my life. I grew up in the beautiful state of Colorado, have a wonderful wife and 2 amazing kids, and enjoy many close friendships with some of the most incredible people from all over the world.

My love for singing and playing the guitar began when my mother dragged me to my first group guitar lessons when I was in grade school. My real passion for entertaining in front of live audiences began several years later in 1986 when I began performing in a small little bar in Dallas, TX called Mimi’s Pub, while attending SMU. Those were great and wild times, every Tuesday and Thursday, playing until 2:00 AM to a packed house of SMU’s finest. I also played in other Dallas establishments such as Chelsie Corner, Andrews, Adairs Saloon, Trees, Club Dada and others. However, it is safe to say that the experience at Mimi’s changed my life forever.

Since that time I have entertained people all around the world: Bouzios, Brazil; Copenhagen, Denmark; St. Thomas, VI; Toronto, CA; Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sydney, Australia and all around the US. My most exciting performing experience came in 2005 when I performed for 4 hours at Red Rocks Amphitheatre just outside of Denver, Colorado with some great friends. (YouTube videos on page 1).

Now, I mainly play in Dallas, Texas, and Crested Butte, Colorado, and at select private parties. I am also busy writing and recording a series of new songs and will continue to post them on this sight.
