Stargazing in the Gunnison Valley

Join the Crested Butte Library on Tuesday, June 13 at 6 pm for a presentation by Dr. Suzanne Taylor, professor of physics and astronomy at Western Colorado University and Board President of the Gunnison Valley Observatory.

Dr. Taylor will cover what to look for in the night sky, best places to observe stars in our Valley, what tools are available (including the library telescopes), and summer events and activities at the Gunnison Valley Observatory.

The astronomy presentation at the Gunnison Library is free and open to all.

The Gunnison Valley Observatory is a publicly-owned and all-volunteer run facility that offers educational experiences throughout the summer season at their facility on CR 28 by Hartman Rocks in Gunnison.

There are public astronomy programs on Friday and Saturday nights from June 16 though August 16, 2023. There are family-friendly astronomy talks and viewings through a variety of small telescopes, and dome tours featuring viewings through the iconic 30-inch telescope. The astronomy presentation at the Gunnison Library is free and open to all.
