Garlic Mike’s River Bar Summer Music Series: Jim Sargent

Jim Sargent grew up in the beautiful state of Colorado.

Jim’s love for singing and playing the guitar began when his mother dragged him to my first group guitar lessons when he was in grade school.

His real passion for entertaining in front of live audiences began several years later in 1986 when he began performing in a small little bar in Dallas, TX called Mimi’s Pub, while attending SMU. Those were great and wild times, every Tuesday and Thursday, playing until 2:00 AM to a packed house of SMU’s finest. He also played in other Dallas establishments such as Chelsie Corner, Andrews, Adairs Saloon, Trees, Club Dada and others. However, it is safe to say that the experience at Mimi’s changed his life forever.

Since that time Jim’s entertained people all around the world: Bouzios, Brazil; Copenhagen, Denmark; St. Thomas, VI; Toronto, CA; Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sydney, Australia and all around the US. His most exciting performing experience came in 2005 when he performed for 4 hours at Red Rocks Amphitheatre just outside of Denver, Colorado with some great friends.

Now, Jim mainly plays in Dallas, Texas, and Crested Butte, Colorado. He’s also busy writing and recording new songs.
I love life and don’t plan to stop any time soon…!!
