Join us for this series of tours around Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley featuring historian Duane Vandenbusche.

This tour will be centered around the history of Crested Butte: The Age of Coal and Age of Snow.

Topics will include Pioneer Wagon Road, Lake Irwin and the mining town of Irwin, Grave Cemetery & Mary Bambrough, “The bench”, Big Mine and coal mining, and the ethnic people of Crested Butte.

We meet at the Crested Butte Museum at 8am for a light breakfast (rolls, fruit, coffee).

Duane will go over his topics for the day and we will head out in the van to make stops along the way.

Van transportation will be included with this tour, however, you are welcome to transport yourself if you choose to do so. A sack-lunch will also be provided with the tour: sandwich, chips or another side, and a drink.
